Four nights in Fukuoka, an hour and a half's flight from Cheongju: markets, hot pots, an old shrine and a heated boat. Planned without too much walking, so Mum can take it easy.

순서는 문 여는 날에 맞췄어요. 시내 시장은 일요일에 쉬고, 기타큐슈는 평일에 가는 게 좋아요. 비용은 어른 4명 기준이고, 5명이 되면 달라지는 부분은 따로 적어 뒀어요.The order fits the opening days: the city markets close on Sundays, and Kitakyushu is best on a weekday. Costs assume four adults; where a fifth changes things, it says so.

나카스카와바타역 바로 위(지하로 바로 연결되는지는 확인 필요)라 걸을 일이 적고, 야타이도 가까워요. 조식 평이 ‘최고’예요.Right above Nakasu-Kawabata subway station (the direct connection is still to confirm), so there's little walking, and it's near the yatai. Breakfast is rated “fabulous”.

국제선 터미널에서 택시로 20–30분, 한 대에 약 ¥2,500–3,500 (약 2만 1천~2만 9천 원). 더 싸게는 6·7번 정류장에서 니시테쓰 버스로 하카타역까지 18–25분(약 ¥300–400 (약 2,500~3,400원)). 국제선 터미널에는 지하철이 없어서, 무료 셔틀로 국내선 터미널에 가서 타야 해요.A taxi from the international terminal takes 20–30 minutes, about ¥2,500–3,500 a car. Cheaper: the Nishitetsu bus from stops 6 or 7 to Hakata Station (18–25 min, about ¥300–400). There's no subway at the international terminal; take the free shuttle to the domestic terminal first.

일본 목욕탕 물은 보통 40–42°C로 뜨거워요. 5–10분 정도로 짧게 담그고, 물을 충분히 마시고, 술을 마신 뒤나 배부르게 먹은 직후에는 피하고, 일어날 때는 천천히 일어나요. 가족탕(전세탕)이면 찬물을 섞을 수 있어요.Japanese baths are usually 40–42°C. Keep soaks short (5–10 minutes), drink water, avoid bathing after alcohol or a big meal, and stand up slowly. A private family bath lets you add cold water.

가라쓰 요부코의 활오징어는 차 없이도 갈 수 있지만 오가는 데만 5시간쯤 걸려서 부모님께 무리예요. 토요일 가와타로에서 같은 요리를 먹어요.Yobuko's live squid, near Karatsu, is possible without a car, but it's about five hours' travel, too much for Mum and Dad. Kawataro serves the same dish on Saturday.
